THE HISPANIC IN THE 21TH. CENTURY... “The Hispanic market alone, at $1 trillion, is larger than the entire economies of all but 14 countries in the world–smaller than the GDP of Canada but larger than the GDP of Indonesia,” Jeffrey M. Humphreys, director of the center, notes.

These projections are a valuable planning tool for businesses looking for opportunities to expand and promote their products, design their media and advertising campaigns, and tap into a market that is still being largely ignored in mainstream markets and media.

Although the number of employed Hispanics has dropped from its peak in 2008 –nearly 13 percent of new jobs created in the previous years–Latino buying power is expected to continue growing as the relatively young population is increasing educational opportunities and moving up the social ladder.

Nation's Hispanic Population Grew in Nearly Every County Between 2000 and 2010...The Pew Hispanic Center, has updated its demographic and economic profiles of the Hispanic and non-Hispanic populations in the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. These profiles are based on Pew Hispanic Center analysis of the Census Bureau's 2010 American Community Survey. Accompanying the state profiles are updated interactive maps and an updated database on the Hispanic population in the nation's more than 3,100 counties. The maps show the Hispanic population and share in U.S. counties for 1980, 1990, 2000 and 2010 and how its size and distribution across counties has changed since 1980. The population data are derived from the decennial censuses and the Census Bureau's population estimates program.
Hispanic population data by county for 1990, 2000 and 2010 can also be downloaded from the Pew Hispanic Center's website.
